This non-therapeutic biosimilar antibody, using the same variable regions as therapeutic Tanezumab, is ideal for research. It reacts with human nerve growth factor (NGF) — a neurotrophic factor regulating certain neurons’ growth, maintenance, proliferation and survival. NGF is essential for PNS neurons’ development, CNS cholinergic neurons’ functional integrity. Tanezumab, targeting NGF, treats pain via a novel mechanism different from conventional painkillers.
