This non-therapeutic biosimilar, sharing the same variable regions as therapeutic Trastuzumab, is ideal for research. It binds human HER2 (neu, CD340, ErbB-2, p185) — a 185 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein with intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity (activated when overexpressed, no known ligand). As a proto-oncoprotein overexpressed in ~40% breast cancers (linking to poor prognosis), HER2 is targeted by Trastuzumab (triggering its internalization). This biosimilar depletes HER2+ cells in vitro via ADCC.
